Meat the Home Cook Reuben

Latest update:

Hi Reuben! Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where do you call home? Have you got family of your own? Kids, pets?

During my time in Australia, I had the privilege of spending 5 incredible years and meeting my wonderful wife. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we made the decision to return to Singapore. Excitingly, I'm thrilled to share that I will be participating in this year's MasterChef Singapore!

How did you develop your passion for being a home cook?

Knowing that I would be studying abroad and mostly cooking for myself, I knew I didn't want to eat the same things over and over. So I kept cooking and looked for new recipes and ingredients. Till this day, this hasn't stopped.

What inspired you to share your culinary home cook creations with others?

I wanted to show that anyone can whip up a tasty meal with whatever they have. I showcase my culinary adventures on Instagram (@Reubenwenhao), where I share delicious recipes and cooking inspiration.

Is your home cooking a side hustle or full time passion project?

It's a side hustle but really it feels like a full time passion project.

Can you share one of your favorite recipes and tell us why it's special to you?

Beef Tagliata. A simple dish with a good sirloin steak and a salad. It is easy to make and keeps you going.

If you were to create your own meat pack, what would be in it?

Definitely some Beef Lean Mince for meatballs!

Are there any cooking techniques or tools that you find especially helpful when preparing meals at home?

Brining and salting meat in advance.
